the work of cornelia bruinewoud is mostly a study into – and a play with – time (and space).

she is intrigued by the course of time and its influence on the landscape, the matter, the space.

the forms thats disappaer and arise, the different speeds, the traces of stillness and movement.

and although she uses in her work several techniques and materials, stones are, in their

 ‘almost-eternity’, an intriguing medium to give form to her concepts.

this timeless matter also returns in her paintings. In her still, almost abstract, compositions

of rocks, mountains, and desolate landscapes; it seems that there is no time passing at all.

and precisely in that absence of it, it becomes emphasized.
